Watch_Dogs 2.0 (Stylized as WD 2.0 or WD 2) is a 2016 Open World Action-adventure Video Game developed by Ubisoft Montreal and published by Ubisoft.  It was released on June 15, 2016 for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

The game is set within the fictionalized version of Chicago, Illinois and takes place 5 years after the event of Watch_Dogs, 2018. The game features a new protagonist, Marcus Brenks, the son of the antagonist of Watch_Dogs, Damien Brenks who seek revenge for his father's death by killing Aiden Pearce, the Vigilante.

The game is powered by Snowdrop 2.0, the new version of the engine that used in Tom Clancy's The Division.

Development

The game's development starts in 2011 after Ubisoft complete the story writing process of Watch_Dogs. The game is supposed to be a prequel and the title of the game is "Watch Dogs: The Ballad of T-Bone Grady". The game takes place in 2003 when the 2003 Northeast Blackout happened and the main story is about the early life of Ray Kenney and before he becomes T-Bone Grady and the birth of ctOS and how he becomes Blume's number one most wanted and why he create the 2003 Northeast Blackout. But the game is cancelled because they can't find the perfect story for it and if they do found it, it will be less action pack.

3 months after they cancelled the game, they came up with an idea and the game will be a sequel to Watch_Dogs. The story is about the son of Damien Brenks, Marcus Brenks who seeks revenge for his father's death by killing Aiden Pearce. And Ubisoft states, Marcus is the most dark protagonist they ever create. Because his whole later life is based on avenge his father's death and they said, before his father's death Marcus is a kind and cheerful kid.

The game is powered by Snowdrop 2.0 and Prev-Gen consoles can't handle the engine so the game is only available on Current-Gen. The game has a new feature, a mobile companion app called "The Profiler".  The companion app is available on Android, Mac, Wimdows Phone, and Microsoft Windows. The function of the app are to inform the user if there are any Public Events, to saw how the things going in the user online world when they are not online, customize user's vehicles in Connected, and the game social network, HangOut to chat with other users and the players can sell their inventories.

Gameplay

The core gameplay is still the same like it's predecessor but more features have been added. The Parcour Movement Physics has been improved and feels more realistic than it's predecessor. Now in some parts of the city, there are automatic turrets and Floating drones that being controlled by the Chicago PD and the S.W.A.T and the player can hack them and use them for their advantage. But the player can't control it all the time. The player can only control them for 20 seconds but if the player has bought the skill to Increase the time, the time will be increased into 30 seconds, 45 seconds, 60 seconds, 75 seconds, and 90 seconds and there are 5 Skills to increase the time.

And now the player can assassinate a target or two from above and below the targets and the player will get a kill chain by using a combo moves like the one in Assassin's Creed series. And in the stealth mission, sometimes the player must pass a security camera without getting detected and the player can disable the camera for 10 seconds and the player can increase the time by unlock the skill to increase the time by buying it and there are 4 of them (15 seconds, 20 seconds, 25 seconds, 30 seconds). In Watch_Dogs, Blackout is limited by time and now Blackout will be unlimited and the player can stop the blackout anytime they want.

The player can interact with the dynamic enivornment. Car doors can be opened and closed by the player to get a new cover. The player can analyse dead bodies and they will get the information of the dead bodies like, their names, cause of death, birth date and place and sometimes valuable informations or an access to locked buildings or houses. And because of the power of Snowdrop 2.0, 75% of the buildings and houses in the map are accessible and some of them will be locked and the player must find the access of the buildings or the houses but there are some of them that can be unlock by hacking the security system. And there will be no same/double NPC in the map.

The HUD is completely redesigned. On the left side there's the mini map and on the right bottom corner of the mini map, there's a tiny digital clock and above the mini map there is the Focus meter. On the right side, there are the picture of the weapon that the player use, the ammo, the grenades, the health meter and the body armor meter and the hacking features that the player use. Now the player can fly the helicopter. And now the player can dive underwater.

And now the player can customize their weapons. Like adding the silencer, the scope, the kind of the magazine, the weapons's color and camo.  And sometimes, weapon jam will happen and the character will fix it automatically. And now the player can bought their own house from the Internet or from the Real Estate agent. The A.I has been improved, for example if the player got hit by a vehicle or got into a car crash, some bystanders will take a photo of the accident, some of them will rush to help the player and if the player is okay. And if the player got hit by a car, the hitter will get out from his/her car and help the player or run away with his/her car and if the hitter run away some bystanders will call the cops. Different pedestrians will react differently to situations, some might have an emotional breakdown, fight back, or run away.

Setting

I don't know what my father's job is and i don't know what he really do and i was kid back there and until now i don't really know him. We're not spending time together much and i barely see him in our house and i hate him for that. But i don't know why after he die, i really want to avenge him. The story takes place in 2018. 5 months after ctOS 2.0 are open to public, Blume create a some kind of a really powerfull anti-virus and put it into the system and it makes ctOS 2.0 unhackable and no hacker can get into the system but there's one hacker who can get into the system. The hacker is Aiden Pearce with the help of T-Bone and if there's anyone who succeed to enter the system, they will be immedietely thrown out from the system and their location will be detected by the system and they will be captured immedietely by Blume or terminated if they resisting arrest. But T-Bone found a way to breach the system and keep their location untraceable and until now Blume doesn't know who has enter the system. 5 years later DedSec has create a virus that strong enough to kill the anti-virus and the system will be hackable. Now two DedSec member, Ryan Flynn and Marcus Brenks are tasked to plant the virus into Blume's central computer in Blume's headquaters. For Marcus, being a DedSec member is only a side-job and his main job is to find and kill Aiden Pearce who has been untraceable after he enter the ctOS 2.0 system.

Plot

Prologue

The game starts with Marcus Brenks as a kid is in an ambulance with his dying father Damien Brenks who survived Aiden Pearce's shot and Marcus is crying and worried about his father and Damien assure his son by telling him everything will be ok. Then the screen switches into the emergency room and Marcus is in the outside of the room and he saw the doctors are trying to save Damien's life and a few seconds later Damien passed away and Marcus starts crying and slams the mirror repeatedly and his uncle trying to calm him down. Then the screen switches into Damien's funeral and a heavy rain is occured. First the funeral is full of people and 10 seconds later the other peoples fades away and only Marcus who still on Damien's grave and he put a flower on Damien's grave and he said "I'm gonna miss you dad..." then a voice that calling Marcus can be heard mutiple times. Then the voice getting really loud and the game switches into the present day and turns out Marcus is dreaming and he's being waked up by his friend, Ryan Flynn and they are inside a car. Ryan ask him that he still dreaming about his father's death and Marcus said it keep happening since the past few days and Ryan told him to prepare his weapons because they almost reach the Blume's headquarters. They infiltrate the headquarters silentely and killing some unaware guards and then they reach the central computer. Ryan plug in the USB drive and plant the virus. After the planting process complete, the computer detect the virus and in the monitor shows the alert sign: "SYSTEM BREACHED". And the loudspeaker buzzed. The anti-virus is trying to terminate the virus mutiple times but failed and the virus succeed to kill the anti-virus and now ctOS 2.0 is hackable and unprotected. Then a reinforcement of Blume securitu guards are coming and the two got into an intense firefight. After survive the firefight, the two rush into their car and escape from there and with cops on their tails. After they lost them, Ryan told Marcus to enter the system with his smartphone. After he press the icon, the camera zooms out into the bird's eye view of Chicago and it turns into pixelate version of Chicago and the game's title: "Watch_Dogs 2.0" shows up on the screen and then the voice actors names are shows up on the screen 15 total and some news flash that reporting about the ctOS 2.0 system breach are shows up on the screen and looks like Blume already knows DedSec is responsible for the system breach according to the news flash that saying: "The Anarchist Hacker Group, DedSec is the one who responsible for the ctOS 2.0 system breach.". After the camera zooms in into Marcus's smartphone and zooms out into Marcus and the prologue mission ends and the game shifted into one month later.

Act I

After searching Aiden Pearce for one month without no clue and even he ask for the DedSec leader, John Spencer's help and still he can't find him. Then a guy contacts him and he said he's been watching Marcus for a while but he can't find Marcus's exact location and thanks to Marcus for deactivating ctOS 2.0 protection, now he found him. He said he know what Marcus looking for and if Marcus want a clue to find Aiden Pearce, Marcus must help him first and the guy give Marcus his hideout location and the location is Pawnee. After he reach the place, he ends up in a local bar and Marcus calls him again and the guy told Marcus to ask the bartender for the permission to enter his hideout by saying "Charlie sent me". After he talk to the bartender, the bartender take Marcus to a basement and the bartender put his thumb into the Fingerprint scanner to unlock the door and after the locked door's open, Marcus saw a door and the bartender told them to knock the door. After he enter the room, he's greeted by the guy who calls him, Charlie Keegan. His room is full of computer and he's a hacker. He said he was the Chicago South Club's Top Enforcer until a petty member of Chicago South Club named "Eagle Eye" Harrison ratted him by revealing Charlie's dirty secret. Charlie is a Chicago PD undercover and Eagle Eye knows about it and he reports it to Lucky Quinn and now Charlie is number one on Chicago South Club's Kill List and after Lucky Quinn's death, Eagle Eye has become the leader of Chicago South Club because of his action save the Organization. Charlie wants Eagle Eye dead but to approach him it won't be easy. He's untraceable, on the map he has 50+ exact location and to know his real exact location, Marcus must get to Eagle Eye's right hand man, Carl. But Charlie still working on finding him and he will contact Marcus if he found his exact location and then Marcus leave the bar.

Later that day, Charlie has found Carl. He always play poker in a Casino that occupied by Chicago South Club in The Loop at 09 PM. After he reach the place, he find the security router to gain control of the Casino automatic system. He search the place by identifying all the people using his smartphone and then he found him playing in one of the poker table. After Marcus join the game, he start a chat with Carl and after a few seconds he ask Carl the location of Eagle Eye but Carl said there's no way Marcus can't meet him unless if Eagle Eye want to. Because of that Marcus pull out his gun and cock it and scares another players who playing with them. Marcus threatens him and if he doesn't want to give Eagle Eye's location, Marcus will pull the trigger and then he shot one of the hanging lamp and scares all the visitors and after all the vistors get out from the Casino, Marcus locks all the doors and disable all the security cameras and Marcus ask him once again. Then Carl shove the poker table and Marcus's trying to shoot Carl but the bullet hit the table and the Casino security has regain control of the casino and unlock all the doors and Marcus must deal with the security guards first. After he deal with them, Carl has escaped but Marcus track Carl's GPS route. After a short drive, Marcus has found Carl. In the middle of the chase, Marcus hack the Street Blocker and Carl hitted the blocker. With his car has been immobilized, Carl proceed on foot and so do Marcus. In the middle of the chase, Marcus burst a pipe on the left side of Carl and makes him fall to the ground. Carl's trying to get back on his feet but Marcus shot his leg. Marcus kick Carl's belly mutiple times and finally he wants to answer. Eagle Eye's in his night club called The Nighlife in The Loop. Carl assure him there's no way that Marcus can meet him unless he want to. Then Charlie calls him and he said the only way to meet Eagle Eye is to accept the gig to be his right-hand man. Then Marcus tell Carl that his friend has found the way to meet Eagle Eye and it involves killing him. Before Marcus pull the trigger, Carl sa id he sent a bunch of Fixers to help him take Marcus out. Marcus said he doesn't care and pull the trigger. Then behind Marcus, 3 Fixers are surrounding him and one of them told him to surrender and Marcus put his hands up and silentely take his phone. Then Marcus create a blackout and quickly kill the Fixers. Marcus hear more Fixers coming and he rush into the fence behind him and climb it and rush into a car. After he escape the Fixers' search area, he calls Charlie and tell him that he got the Eagle Eye's location and Marcus said he's gonna pay Eagle Eye a visit.

The next day Marcus went to the Nightlife to sign up for the gig. He get to the VIP lounge and meet Eagle Eye. Eagle Eye said if Marcus wants to be his right-hand man, he must complete 2 challenges. The first one is Road Rage. Eagle Eye told him to get to the start in 2 minutes or he will miss the Road Rage. After he reach the start line, he directed to a muscle car by a Chicago South Club member. After he eliminate all the opponents and survive the road rage, Eagle Eye calls him and told him to return to Nightlife for his final challenge. After the death of the former leader of the Black Viceroys, Delford "Iraq" Wade, Black Viceroys has gone rogue. In a arms dealing or drug dealing, they won't play fair anymore. They always kill the Club members who dealing with them and escape with the goods and the money and they keep saying they got ambushed by another street gang. This year, 20 deals have gone rogue and after the last deal, Eagle Eye sent his men to investigate and the result is, The Viceroys is the one who did it. Eagle Eye told Marcus to burn down their drug field and drug storage in Pawnee to tell them this means war. The mission goes a bit rougher than he expected but he manage to burn down the drug field and the drug storage. And when he returns to the Nightlife and Eagle Eye welcome him by saying "Welcome to the Club!"

Ryan Flynn calls Marcus and tell him the DedSec leader got a job for him. Ryan told him to meet him at the DedSec hideout and he will give the job's description. After he reach the hideout he's being greet by Ryan and the leader of DedSec, John Spencer. Ryan tell him about the new unmanned security system that created by Blume, the Protective Drones. There are two kinds of drones, The Automatic Turrets and The Floating Drones. According to the intel that DedSec get, The Viceroys is gonna steal the drones before the shipment ship reach the docks and the ship brought a massive number of weapons caches too. The Viceroys is gonna use the drones for themself so they can expand their kingdom. And if The Viceroys failed to stole the drones, DedSec will get the upper hand. Ryan and Marcus went to the Helipad above the hideout to use the helicopter. After they are in the air, Marcus trace the current location of the ship and then he got the coordinate. After they reach the coordinate, they found the ship and some Viceroys on it's tail. Marcus use the minigun to kill all the Viceroys that on it's tail and after a few minutes, two Viceroys' chopper arrived and they brought a bunch of Viceroys and they are rappling down from the chopper and the Blume security guards are outnumbered. Marcus told Ryan to get closer to the ship and then a Viceroys shot down the chopper but Marcus and Ryan manages to jump out from the chopper and land safely on the ship. When Marcus land on the ship, a Viceroys is about to stab Marcus with a machete. But Marcus saw a box of Proximity IEDs and when the Viceroys goon got near the box, Marcus hack the Proximity IEDs and the IEDs are exploded and throw the goon out from the ship. Then Ryan help Marcus to get up and the two clear the ship. After the ship is secured, a Chicago PD helicopter comes and told the two to surrender. The two put their hands up and with his smartphone on his hand, Marcus silentely hack the helicopter and disable it for a few seconds and the two jumps out from the ship and enter a Viceroys' speedboat and escape from the police. After they get to the land, they still being chased by the police but they manage to escape. After they lost the police, Marcus calls John and tell him that the ship is secured. John said Blume will finish the installation process in a few days and now John is working on the backdoor virus for the drones' system.

After doing some errands for Eagle Eye, Charlie said it's time to kill Eagle Eye. Charlie gave Marcus some equipments and one of them is a Night Vision Google and he trace Eagle Eye's phone and his phone is in his night club. Later that night Marcus went to the Nightlife to kill Eagle Eye. After he enter the club, he find the club security router to gain control of the club's system. After he gain control of the system, he create a blackout in the building. He activate his NVG and after a few seconds the Club restore the power. And after he kills all the Club member, he continue his way to the VIP Lounge. He kicks the door and enter the VIP Lounge and he can't find him anywhere and Eagle Eye's phone is on a table.  The Phone is beeping and he look at the phone and on the phone screen is written "Detonation in 5 Seconds" and Marcus rush into the window and jump out from the building and the building explode but Marcus manage to land on the ground safely. Then Eagle Eye calls him and he said he know Marcus betray him and he know Marcus is working with Charlie since they first met in Nightlife and he know what Marcus after and he can give Marcus a clue to find the untrackable Aiden Pearce but Marcus need to do one more job for him and Marcus agree to do the job and when Eagle Eye is gonna give the job description, some police sirens can be heard from the distance and Marcus must escape from the Police's search area unnoticed. After he escape the search area, Eagle Eye calls Marcus and Eagle Eye wants to meet Marcus soon and he will call Marcus soon when the meeting time has come.

John calls him and he said it's time to install the backdoor virus into the Drone's system. After Marcus takes the virus from John, he gave Marcus some weapons because the system is located in Chicago Police Department Headquarter in The Loop. After he reach the HQ, he silentely sneak into the building. After he gain control of the system of the building, he found the location of the system. The system is planted in an unsuspected less powerfull computer. It's a tactic that created by the police to make it hard for hackers to find the system and the only way to find it is by hack the Chicago PD HQ's system. The computer is located in the Data Center room and after he install the virus, he hack the data center and hopefully found a clue about Aiden Pearce's location. He found a name of a fixer, Jordi Chin, the fixer who used to work for Aiden Pearce and maybe he know where Aiden Pearce is. Suddenly the system detect Marcus and the building is in a lockdown and Marcus can't undo the lockdown. So he went to the armory and plant an IED into the explosion section. The armory is located on the second floor. The IED will explode in 2 minutes and Marcus must defend himself for 2 minutes. After the IED explodes, the explosion destroyed the half of the building and the building is started to collapsing and Marcus must jump out from the building. After he exit the building, the building has finally collapsed and fall into the ground. After he escape the police, he calls John and tells him that he failed to plant the virus because the computer where the system is located is destroyed. John said The system is located in 3 different computers and if one of the computers has been infected, it will infected the other two computers.
