Horizon is an action-based role-playing game. The player takes control of Azurite, who is put in charge of a team of skilled operatives to pursue missions across the galaxy.

The game takes place in an alternate universe that is based on the geocentric model of the cosmos once theorized by many philosophers of the ancient Greece and medieval eras. The universe is comprised of multiple systems, but only one is fully known to humanity: the Ptolemy galaxy, which is where Earth is located. Earth, which is also significantly different in this universe, never underwent the events which lead to the separation of Pangaea. As such, the supercontinent is the primary landmass on the planet, but it is divided into eight regions.
