Chirality (previously known as Octavian) is a 2015 open world action RPG developed by Skymount Inc. and published by OnyxWare. The game was released in the United States on November 16, 2015 and internationally on November 19 of the same year for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles.

Serving as an official prequel to The Convergence, a novel written by John Lincoln Albright, the game's storyline (also penned by Albright) follows the life of Marcus Blaine before the Euclid rebellion and Emmett Palmer's arrival in the universe.

Chirality is played from a third-person perspective. The player controls Marcus Blaine, who is a member of the August Surge insurrectionist movement.

Near the beginning of the game, the player can opt to choose the overall conditioning of Marcus. Based on the choices you make, Marcus will benefit from ability boosts as well as perks that can help him progress in specific situations. The player can only choose three conditioning aspects.

  • Tactical
  • Fierce
  • Silent
  • Meticulous
  • Unmerciful
  • Patient
  • Pragmatic

ProgApps (Upgrades)

The main crux of the upgrading system is the ProgApp (Progressive Application): a type of device that enhances certain human abilities based on the physical and mental conditioning of the recipient.

  • Marcus Blaine: The main protagonist of the game.
  • Devin Blaine:

The story begins with a man sitting in a dark room while he looks out a window. The light from outside reveals that the man is holding a large bottle of pain meds. He unscrews the cap and pours nearly a dozen tablets into his hand and begins to mutter to himself. The man is contemplating overdosing on the pills. A flashback occurs, spanning nearly eight years. The same man, younger, is walking the streets of Portland, Oregon.
