Assassin's Creed: Desperation is a 2014 historical action-adventure open world video game developed by Ubisoft Toronto and published by Ubisoft. It is a sequel to 2013's Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag modern story and historical storyline.

It will be released worldwide for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and Microsoft Windows on June 16, 2014.

Gameplay[]

The game features five main cities. Saigon, Hanoi, Bangkok, Hong Kong and Phnom. The game features 6 countries to explore, all on land with the naval aspect from Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag completely removed. Assassin's Creed: Desperation has the largest total land size of all games in the franchise. The hunting system from Assassin's Creed III was also removed.

The combat system is similar to Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag's system. The weapon aresenal has changed, with the addition of Katanas, Bo Staves, Daggers, and Slingshots. The player is more susceptible to high-profile combat and therefore encourages more stealthy encounters.

The game also includes a co-op mode, as well as the returning multiplayer that featured in Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, Revelations, III and Black Flag.

Synopsis[]

Characters[]

The main character of the game is Anh Nguyen, a Vietnamese man who was forced to enter the Vietnam War as a soldier, and eventual member of the Assassin Order. Anh Nguyen is the ancestor to Jason Pham, a member of the modern day assassins based in Canada. Real-life individuals that will be encountered include Bao Dai, McGeorge Bundy, William Calley, Ho Chi Minh, Lyndon B. Johnson and John F. Kennedy.

Setting[]

As is the case in previous games in the Assassin's Creed series, the story is divided into two interwined halves, with one in the present day, one in a historical setting, and the events of each influencing the other. The game follows Jason Pham in the modern world, who needs assassin training and knowledge, as the Templars are racing the Assassins to an artifact only referenced as the Proselytizer.
